What kind of MP3 can I upload?

The file must contain playable audio. The upload area shows the maximum file size for your access level. Maximum duration is 10 minutes without an account, 30 minutes on Free, 3 hours on Pro, and 6 hours on Studio.

Daily file limits are 10 without an account and 20 when using the Free allowance. Pro, Studio, and transcriptions using purchased minutes have no daily file-count limit; available minutes and per-file limits still apply.

For an interview, conversation, or any recording with several voices, enable speaker separation. Once transcription is complete, check the generated labels and replace them with the correct names.

How to convert MP3 to text

1. Choose the MP3 and its spoken language

Upload the file and select the language actually used in the recording.

2. Listen and correct the transcript

Open the completed transcript, play passages that need checking, and correct names, technical terms, and unclear words.

3. Download the format for your next step

Choose TXT for plain text or DOCX to keep working in a document editor. Use SRT or VTT when you need speech with time ranges. Saved corrections remain available after a refresh in the same browser; cross-device task history is available only on Pro and Studio.

What do you receive?

  • A transcript divided into editable passages.
  • Time ranges that help you find each passage in the audio.
  • Voice labels that you can check and rename.
  • TXT, DOCX, SRT, and VTT downloads after review.

What should you review before downloading?

Check names, acronyms, numbers, and subject-specific vocabulary. If people talk over each other, listen to the passage again before assigning the words to a speaker or using them as a quotation.

When will the audio need more correction?

Noise, music, low volume, and distance from the microphone can hide words. Listen to important sections and correct the text before sharing or publishing it.

If the file is empty, will not play, or exceeds your plan limit, use another version or trim the section you need in an audio editor before trying again.

Questions about converting MP3 to text

Do I need to install an app?

No. Upload the MP3, listen to the recording, correct the transcript, and download the result in your browser.

Which formats can I upload besides MP3?

You can upload AAC, FLAC, M4A, MOV, MP3, MP4, OGG, WAV, and WebM files. The file must contain playable audio; after uploading, choose the language spoken in the recording.

Can I change the speaker names?

Yes. With speaker separation enabled, Transcrever creates voice labels without knowing who each person is. Listen to the recording, identify each speaker, and rename the labels in the transcript editor; the new name applies to every passage from that voice.

How long does the transcript stay available?

The result and saved corrections remain available for 7 days without an account and on Free, 30 days on Pro, and 90 days on Studio. Without an account and on Free, reopen the task in the same browser; cross-device history is available on Pro and Studio.

If the MP3 is an interview or podcast

For questions and answers, review the recording as an interview. For an episode, check the host and guest labels before publishing the transcript.
