If you already have an M4A, upload the original. You do not need to turn it into an MP3 before transcription.
For an iPhone recording, share it from the recording app and save a copy to Files. If export options are offered, choose an audio file and check the saved extension. A link to a recording is not a substitute for the file.
If the recording is in iCloud or another online store, finish downloading it before selecting it. Check that the copy contains the beginning and end of the interview, class or memo you need.
For a saved voice message, see how to transcribe WhatsApp audio.
First select the spoken language, then choose the file to start uploading.
Open the completed transcript, play passages that need checking, and correct names, technical terms, and unclear words.
Choose TXT for plain text or DOCX to keep working in a document editor. Use SRT or VTT when you need speech with time ranges. Saved corrections remain available after a refresh in the same browser; cross-device task history is available only on Pro and Studio.
A searchable version of your recording with editable passages and playback. Download TXT or DOCX to save the memo or work with an interview.
For voice memos, check names, dates and quickly spoken numbers. In an interview recorded on a phone, listen closely to answers from people far from the microphone before quoting them.
No. Upload the file as it is, listen to the recording, correct the transcript, and download the result in your browser.
The upload area shows your maximum file size. Maximum duration is 10 minutes without an account, 30 minutes on Free, 3 hours on Pro, and 6 hours on Studio. If the file exceeds the displayed limit, trim the section you need in an audio editor or compare the limits of the other plans before trying again.
For occasional work, you can also buy minutes without a subscription. Files paid with these minutes can be up to 3 hours and 1 GB, or 6 hours and 2 GB on Studio. Buying minutes keeps your current plan’s history and retention rules.
Daily file limits are 10 without an account and 20 when using the Free allowance. Pro, Studio, and transcriptions using purchased minutes have no daily file-count limit; available minutes and per-file limits still apply.
Once the transcription is complete, the uploaded audio file is deleted about 24 hours later. The transcript remains available for 7 days without an account and on Free, 30 days on Pro, and 90 days on Studio; download the reviewed file to keep your corrections.
Voice messages from some chat apps arrive as OGG, and older recordings are usually MP3. The upload and review flow is the same for both formats.
Upload the audio, review the important passages, and download the corrected transcript.
